Local voices help shape the future of Grangefields

Grangefields, the landmark master-planned community by 3L Alliance, continued its community-first approach on Thursday May 8 with a successful two-hour workshop that brought together 27 community members from Melton and surrounding suburbs.

Attendees reflected a diverse cross-section of the community, spanning all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life, ensuring a wide range of voices helped shape a people-first vision for Grangefields.

Held at the Fraser Rise Children’s & Community Centre and facilitated by an independent community engagement specialist, the session invited locals to share their lived experiences, local knowledge, and aspirations for the future of their neighbourhood.

The session also offered 3L Alliance valuable insights into local aspirations and lived experiences, reinforcing the importance of co-creation in delivering long-term community value.

“This workshop was a valuable opportunity to listen and learn with the people who know the area best,” said Connor Gibbons, Senior Marketing Manager at 3L Alliance.

“Grangefields will be more than a place to live, it will be a connected, thriving neighbourhood that celebrates community and fosters meaningful long-term value.”

Participants praised the opportunity to be involved, with one attendee commenting: “I want to thank 3L Alliance for organising this workshop because not many developers do this – focus on what the community wants in an estate. This was a great initiative. The workshop itself was very engaging.”

Another added: “Tonight’s workshop was valuable because I think that in a new development, community spirit is quite important, so people get to know each other and feel like a part of the community.”

Key Themes and Insights

The workshop explored a range of locally driven topics, including:

• Community needs around shopping, dining, recreation, and open space.

• Desire for improved accessibility and ease of movement across the area.

• Cultural values, daily routines, and community habits unique to the region.

These community-sourced insights will help inform future planning, aligning with Grangefields’ core pillars and 3L Alliance’s commitment to creating greenfield communities of lasting quality, connection and livability across Victoria.
