Melton swimmer Jack Carr sets mind at 2020 Tokyo

Jack Carr, 15, has big dreams … and even bigger goals.

The Melton teenager trains more than 20 hours per week, and has notched up a few hundred medals on his belt, since he started swimming competitively several years ago.

And he has his eyes, mind and heart set on representing Australia at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

“It’s not guaranteed, but I hope so,” Carr says.

“We started training for [the 2020 Olympics] with my coach about a year ago – maybe eight months ago.”

Carr says he was inspired by former Melton Swimming Club captain Lachie Cussens, who he looks up to.

It was because of Cussens that Carr decided to become a ‘butterflier’.

And as for his international inspirations?

“Probably [Australian freestyle swimmer] Mack Horton.”

Carr is one of the top swimmers at Melton Swimming Club, which has about 70 swimmers aged seven to 18.
