Diggers Rest’s senior and junior football clubs were among 20 community groups to receive grants from Sunbury’s Helping Hand.
More than $55,000 was awarded to groups last week, with the Diggers Rest seniors receiving $5000 towards a secretary’s office upgrade and the juniors $4200 for a coffee machine.
Helping Hand president Jan Ward said last week’s announcement of annual grants capped a massive 12 months for the group, which is the community grants partner of Sunbury’s Bendigo Bank branch.
The partners also donated $20,000 to Sunbury SES for a new truck and helped purchase a car for Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Specialist School.
