A BACCHUS Marsh vegetable farmer has pleaded guilty to interfering with a water meter owned by Southern Rural Water.
An object attached to the meter at the property of Nicholas Sgarbossa interfered with the meter’s ability to
record the amount of water being extracted.
In the Bacchus Marsh Magistrates Court, Sgarbossa was fined $300 without conviction and ordered to pay costs of close to $3000.
“This prosecution is a timely reminder for landowners that even though the drought is over, Southern Rural Water will not tolerate interference with meters,” SRW’s acting general manager for groundwater and rivers, Chris Hughes, said.
