MELTON residents are being urged to phone police if they encounter a man wanted for committing alleged kidnappings and assaults.
Police said Melton’s James Daniel Simpson, 26, was dangerous and had a history of violent offences.
A warrant was issued for his
arrest when he breached his parole conditions.
Police allege Simpson was involved in two separate kidnappings in Melton South. The first took place between February 1 and 15, and the second on February 25. Melton’s Detective Sergeant Rob Henley said anyone who helped Simpson hide could be found guilty of an offence.
Police believe Simpson is armed and have warned people not to approach him.
Detective Senior Constable Michael Saliba said there had been several sightings of Simpson in the Melton area. “We believe he’s armed and very dangerous, and he has a long history of crime.”
Police have also alleged Simpson and four other men were involved in a serious assault outside a Melton South house on March 8, which left a 48-year-old man with a broken ankle, fractured cheek and broken nose.
On April 11 at 2.30pm, Simpson allegedly fired a shot in Evelyn Court, Melton West.
Detective Sergeant Henley said Simpson may have changed his appearance.
