Kathy Majdlik elected Melton mayor

AFTER two terms as deputy mayor, Cambridge ward councillor Kathy Majdlik finally has Melton’s top job.

Cr Majdlik was last night elected mayor, with re-elected Coburn ward councillor Bob Turner her deputy.

She was deputy mayor in 2009 and 2010 after first being elected to the council in 2008.

“I believe a great leader has the heart of a servant, and I intend to lead by example and serve with integrity so this council can achieve the best outcomes for the whole community,’’  Cr Majdlik said.

‘‘The council needs to set a firm foundation, not only for the next four years but for generations to come.

‘‘We will be innovative, thinking outside the box to deliver quality infrastructure and find solutions.’’

Cr Majdlik takes over as mayor from Justin Mammarella, who did not seek for re-election to the council.
