MICK ALLEN — captain
“It was a hard, disciplined effort. We knew we wouldn’t clean them up; we’d have to wear them down.
The first 15-20 overs was the key. They dug a hole and we were able to capitalise a bit later.
The target we were trying to set changed a bit through the day, at one stage looking at just over 200. They did drop five catches and we capitalised on their mistakes.
David Kirk took control of the innings. By his own admission he hasn’t had a great season, but he stepped up.
I’ve had a good year. It’s not something you set out to do [break records], but it’s one of those things you can take a bit of pride in if the team wins.”
DUNCAN HARRISON — playing coach
“They’re a driven group, a sensational group of blokes who work hard for each other and enjoy each other’s success.
They’re hungry, they want to keep winning, they set high standards and work hard at training. There’s no egos, they don’t care who makes the runs or takes the wickets.
It’s the first year as coach. We hadn’t won a flag for 19 years and we got all four teams in and won three. It was quite amazing.”
BRAD JONES — 6-52
“Last year was back-to-back, now three in a row . . . every time we win it builds on history and it’s very special.
We’ve got a very strong bowling attack through the ones and the twos. We had Paul Halfhide, who has played most of the season and been a really solid contributor. We all know what our job is and stick to it.
It looked flat so it was going to take a good line and length to make it tough on the slow outfield.
I’d be happy to take none-for and get the win, so the wickets make it even sweeter.”
