Residents are being invited to take part in Moorabool’s official Australia Day celebrations, with the council set to host a community event recognising local achievements and welcoming new citizens.
The celebrations will feature live music entertainment, a town crier, an Australia Day awards presentation and an official Australian citizenship ceremony.
The event’s highlight includes the presentation of the Australia Day awards, which acknowledge the outstanding contributions of individuals and community groups across the shire.
The awards are among the highest honours council can bestow and aim to recognise local heroes whose dedication and service may otherwise go unnoticed.
Awards are presented in three categories, with citizen of the year, young citizen of the year, and community event awards recognised.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and be part of the celebrations.
For those unable to attend in person, the event will also be live-streamed on Moorabool council’s Facebook page.
