Victoria’s public libraries are set for a spruce up, with applications open for the next round of funding from the state government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.
Local Government Minister Nick Staikos and Victorian Public Library Ambassador Andrea Rowe launched the latest funding round on Wednesday to coincide with Children’s Book Week.
Under the program, grant funding of between $10,000 and $1 million will be provided to local councils to improve their libraries, provide free access to information and technology, create safe community spaces, and provide opportunities for social connection.
“Libraries are vital community hubs which is why we’re upgrading libraries right across Victoria,” said Mr Staikos in launching the latest funding round.
“There’s no better time than Children’s Book Week to work towards creating inspiring spaces to produce the next generation of authors, ” added Ms Rowe.
Local councils have until September 19 to apply for the 2025–26 Living Libraries Infrastructure Program funding grants.
