Melton and Moorabool flood warnings

A flooding incident has occured in Ballan and moderate flood warnings are in place along the Werribee River.

At 10.27am on Monday, November 14, Emergency Vic listed a flooding incident on Inglis Street in Ballan with the status “request ror assistance” and one vehicle is responding.

A moderate flood warning is in place for the Werribee River above the Melton Reservoir.

Emergency Vic has issued a Watch and Act warning following thunderstorms in the Werribee River catchment.

The area has recorded rainfall totals of up to 36mm in a few locations.

Water levels of the Werribee River at various locations are rising in response to the rain.

The level of the Werribee River at Ballan is currently at 1.94 metres, exceeding the Minor Flood Level, and rising. It is expected to peak near the Moderate Flood Level.

The level of the Werribee River at Bacchus Marsh is currently at 0.96 metres, and rising. It is expected to peak below the Minor Flood Level.

Residents are urged to Prepare for flooding now. Take actions to protect your life and property against potential hazards caused by flooding.

There is also a minor flood warning in place for the Rapid river Leigh, Moorabool and Barwon rivers.

Moorabool council has listed the following road closures on its Facebook page:

Ingliston Road, Ballan-Bacchus Marsh

Ramsay Crescent & Manning Boulevard – 1000+ Steps, Darley

Powerline Road, Mount Egerton

Bradys Lane, Greendale (fire access track section only)

Entrances to Mill Park and Caledonia Park, Ballan

Dollys Creek Road, Morrisons

Moorabool council has also warned there is water over roads at Kellys Road, Grenville, Connor Court, Ballan and Albery Street, Darley.

Access to 1000 Steps from Ramsay Crescent, Darley is closed until further notice due to washouts.

Sand and sandbags are available for Moorabool Shire residents from Bacchus Marsh Council Depot, 17 Kennedy Place, Maddingly and Ballan Council Office car park, 15 Stead Street.

These are self-fill stations, so please bring your own shovels.
