Darley fine tuned for finals against ladder leaders North Ballarat in the Ballarat Netball League on Saturday. The Devils trailed at quarter time, before hitting the front in the second term. The Devils blew the margin out in the second half, winning 52-42. The Devils finished the regular season in fourth and will face Lake Wendouree in the first week of finals. Melton South, which finished the regular season in second, will face North Ballarat in the first week of finals.4

Melton and Darley had wins leading in the Ballarat Football League finals, while Melton South and Bacchus Marsh finished their seasons with losses. Melton, which had already finished the minor premiership, smashed Lake Wendouree, while Darley beat North Ballarat. Bacchus Marsh lost to the Sunbury Lions, while Redan beat Melton South. Melton will face Ballarat in a qualifying final, while Darley will play East Point in an elimination final.

WRFL

Caroline Springs finished the regular season with a solid win against Hoppers Crossing in the Western Region Football League. The Lakers, who have already sealed the minor premiership, led by four points at quarter time before extending that to 31 points at half time. They were able to maintain the lead throughout the second half, winning 13.7 (85)-6.9 (45). The Lakers a bye in the first week of finals. Altona will play Deer Park in a qualifying final, while Werribee Districts and Hoppers Crossing will face each other in a Wyndham derby.

A-League

It’s double trouble for Western United with twins Adriana and Melissa Taranto joining the club’s first A-League Women’s side. The 23-year-olds, who play for Calder United in the National Premier League, are the first siblings to sign for Western United. It is a return to the top flight competition for the pair, who both debuted for Melbourne Victory in 2015 as 16-year-olds while also representing Australia at youth level.
