Bacchus Marsh residents will benefit from more free car parks through a new project from the state government.
Maddingley Park Reserve will gain 100 free car parks in order to meet the demands of the growing community.
The project will also benefit the community in creating more local jobs during the construction period.
The project is part of the government’s Regional Car Parks Fund, which will build 2000 car parks across regional Victoria.
The new car park project will upgrade and expand on the existing parking around the Maddingley Park Reserve sports precinct to combat parking pressure in the area.
Additional and accessible car parking is a key focus for the Moorabool Shire Council as the area is expected to grow by 25 per cent by 2031, with most of the population residing in Bacchus Marsh.
Victorian regional development minister Mary-Anne Thomas said Bacchus Marsh was quickly becoming a major regional Victorian hub.
“It’s important that we support the community’s growth now and into the future with more free and accessible parking, while supporting local jobs,”
Melton MP Steve McGhie said additional car parks were crucial for the future of Bacchus Marsh as a growing regional city.
“More car parking spaces will make the day that little bit smoother for all locals, who live and work in Bacchus Marsh,” Mr McGhie said.
The state-wide project will also support 1000 new car park spaces in Ballarat and 900 spaces in town centres throughout the Latrobe Valley.
