A Melton martial arts gym has an exciting upcoming event program filled with international fighting stars to share their wisdom with local athletes.

Gladiator Muay Thai has booked multiple-time world champion fighter Mostafa Abdollahi to come to the gym for an exciting seminar on May 7.

The gym will also host a three-day event over the long weekend in June with seven expert Thai fighters providing coaching for a student training camp.

Gladiator Muay Thai owner Glenn Cassar said the gym members were very excited for the upcoming events.

“It’ll be a huge thing for Melton,” he said.

Mr Cassar said martial arts had a positive impact on the community, as the benefits of the sport are wide-ranging for both adults and children.

“There’s social benefits, there’s so many different aspects that people can gain just by joining a gym,

“We’re a family run gym, that’s a main aspect of our gym, to build a family orientated environment for like-minded people to train.”

The gym will also hold a third exciting event later in the year, with previous Muay Thai heavyweight world champion Nathan Corbett holding a seminar in August.

The gym currently has about 150 members, but Mr Cassar encouraged more people who were interested to visit for a week free trial.

“It’s not just about the fighting, it’s about meeting people and fitness,” Mr Cassar said.

“It’s the community that makes us what we are.”
