Two loving grandparents killed in a car crash earlier this month have been remembered as “exceptional people with a zest for life”.
Bruce and Lyn Anderson, farmers from Baynton in central Victoria, were driving near Melbourne Airport on Thursday, October 10, when their SUV and a Holden sedan collided about 3.20pm.
Mr Anderson, 69, and Ms Anderson, 68, died at the scene on Sunbury Road in Bulla.
The man driving the Holden was taken to hospital with injuries, emergency services said at the time.
A 22-year-old man from Melton West was charged last Monday with two counts of culpable driving causing death.
The Anderson family released a statement last week, describing the farming couple as keen travellers.
“We are saddened by the loss of our beloved parents.
“They were loving grandparents and exceptional people with a zest for life,” the family said.
“They enjoyed travelling Australia and did many a mile in the outback and beyond.
“This tragic accident will affect our family forever and we will miss them terribly.”
So far this year, 221 people have died on Victoria’s roads, seven more than the total road toll for 2018.
