Modern family: 8 Shaw Street, Aintree, 3336

While renovating can be rewarding, there’s a lot to be said for the lack of upkeep a modern, well fitted house can bring.

This elegant property in Aintree has plenty to offer those looking to move right in, while the growing suburb is an ideal setting to bring up a family.

The facade gives a hint to what’s within with its clean lines, large windows and subtle styling. The interior decor is based around a white, grey and black palette for a sophisticated style but the simple colour scheme also lends itself well to providing an excellent canvas to add a splash of colour for dramatic effect.

There are four bedrooms, the main with a walk-in robe leading to an en suite. Both bathrooms are fully tiled in grey with white fittings for a striking contrast and the main has a freestanding tub.

The fourth, smaller bedroom at the rear would also be suited to being a study, child’s play room or studio.

Living areas include a more formal area leading off the entry and a spacious open-plan kitchen/dining/living area opening to the backyard through full height sliding doors.

The kitchen has a long island bench under pendant lighting hanging from a bulkhead, stainless-steel appliances, glass splashback, oodles of storage including both drawer and cupboards as well as a large walk-in pantry with access to the garage.

A large under-roof entertaining area is perfect for outdoor dining and is angled north to capture plenty of winter sun.

As a near-new build, the outdoor areas are ready for the new owners to stamp their own statement, although simple lawns hold their own low-maintenance appeal.

Other amenities include nine-foot ceilings, a double, drive-through garage, alarm system, cooling and heating.

Aintree is a growing community roughly halfway between Melton and Caroline Springs shopping centres and has excellent open spaces and plenty of walking tracks. Also close to the Western Highway.
