Australian actor Lester Ellis jnr will be mentoring aspiring film stars at a Rockbank studio.

The 27-year-old, who’s starred on television series Underbelly and Fat Tony, says he’s thrilled to be volunteering his time to teach youngsters about acting.

“The secret to acting is simple: you’ve got to love it,” Ellis says. “It’s a harsh, crazy industry and it’s very competitive but if you love it, it’s an ear you have to scratch.

“If you don’t do it, you live with regret.”

Ellis says he was approached by friend and The Studio Performing Arts School founder, Natalie Sette, to offer acting classes for the children of the west.

He said most acting schools are in the eastern suburbs, which makes it hard for children of the west to find opportunities closer to home.

“We target primary school-aged kids, who haven’t had a knock in their confidence, haven’t had body image issues,” Ellis says. “My job is to keep that artistic flame burning.”
