Smash and grab nets $200

Thieves smashed their way through the front doors of a Ballan farm supply store in the early hours of last Tuesday leaving with a beat-up car and $200.

Police said that a stolen white Nissan Navara was used in the ram raid on Crossroads Trading on Old Melbourne Road before two offenders were caught on camera stealing a cash register containing about $200 about 2.45am.

Police said the vehicle would have extensive damage to its front.

Crossroads Trading, which has operated in Ballan for more than 25 years, sells farm supplies and equipment.

Owners Asha and Bernie Shanahan took over the business four weeks ago.

“Bernie and I would like to thank everyone in our local community for their overwhelming support after our break-in,” Ms Shanahan posted on Facebook.
