What is your connection to Melton?
Me and my family moved to the municipality in 1999. We thought it was a good place to raise a family, and at that time it was affordable.
How long have you lived in the Melton area?
Around 18 years.
How long have you worked with the Western Suburbs Cats and Kitten rescue?
It was founded by a group of volunteers passionate about animal welfare over a decade ago. We started it with the purpose of ending the over-population of cats and promoting responsible ownership of cats. The group has grown to the point where there’s more demand than we can cater for.
How did you first get involved?
It all started in 2001 with a single kitten coming into my care, with no mother, that needed around the clock bottle feeding.
What are you passionate about?
Social justice and animal welfare.
What other hats do you where in the community?
I am involved with a number of resident groups and associations and sporting clubs.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
People would be surprised of the different community projects that I work on and my strong commitment to disadvantaged children.
What is the best thing about living in Melton?
It’s not to far from the city and has everything you need.
If you could change anything about the area, what would it be?
I’m not happy with the way some of the Coburns ward councillors represent us in Melton and I will be seeking Labor Party endorsement for the Coburns ward to ensure our community is appropriately represented.
