A motorcyclist caught riding at nearly 50km/h over the speed limit in Yarraville on Saturday told police he was in a hurry to catch the sunset in Williamstown with his female pillion passenger. The Docklands man, 30, was clocked at 107km/h in a 60km/h zone in Hyde Street about 5.30pm. The pair didn’t ride off into the sunset together after the man’s bike was impounded for 30 days.

Bomb scare

The bomb squad was called in to check a suspicious package on a bus in Point Cook Road at Seabrook last Thursday. Point Cook Road, between Dunnings Road and Seabrook Boulevard, was closed for about three hours until 1.30pm.
