The sun was shining and champagne flowed on Sunday when thousands descended on the Werribee Racecourse for the annual Werribee Cup. Punters dressed up, drank up and had a flutter at the eight-race meet, enjoying a nail-biting photo finish for the big race, with Kylie Vella-trained horse Aeratus taking out the cup by the barest of margins. Werribee Racing Club general manager Glenn Scott said crowd numbers had steadily increased since the Werribee Cup was permanently moved to December three years ago. ■ More pictures: Pages 10-11
