Bikes, trikes, toys and cheer

Start your engines. The annual Melbourne motorcycle and classic car toy run is coming to Melton.

This year, the Victorian Motorcycle Council’s 40th toy run will be held at Melton’s Tabcorp Park on Sunday, December 17.

The toy run is a charitable contribution to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal.

Motorcycle riders dress up their bikes, trikes and scooters with Christmas decorations and ride from all over Victoria to bring gifts, toys and food for the children and families in need.

Tabcorp Park chief executive Shane Gloury said: “Tabcorp Park is delighted to be involved again and be a part of the 2017 Traditional Melbourne Toy Run. An estimated 10,000 bikes will be entering Tabcorp Park.

“The Toy Run is an iconic event and plays a huge role each Christmas in putting a smile on the faces of kids in need as part of the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.”

Victorian Motorcycle Council chair Rob Salvatore said: “This welcomed partnership with Tabcorp Park ensures a bright future for the Toy Run and for the all-important charitable tradition at its heart. Riders have a rich history of giving at Christmas time and this partnership only encourages that legacy
to grow.”

The Salvation Army trucks will again be waiting to receive gifts from the bikers and public.
