Man charged after fires

A Melton South man has been remanded in custody after being charged with arson, burglary and theft. Police said the man, 34, was charged after fires were started at Melton Secondary College and a nearby vacant house. Melton CFA extinguished both fires before damage was caused. He will face court later.

Knife men rob clubber

Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery in Palmerston Street. Six men approached two people who had left a nearby nightclub about 3.25am last Tuesday, police said. The men pulled out knives and a machete before demanding money. One victim was hit with a skateboard and had a mobile phone stolen. The second victim was chased from the scene.

Couple on armed robbery charge

A 38-year-old Melton woman and a 40-year-old NSW man will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday after being charged with armed robbery. Police said the pair were charged after a Melton South man was robbed early November 4. They said the woman, who was known to the victim, asked him to step outside his Kurunjang Crescent house before another man produced a gun, demanding the victim’s phone and wallet.

The event is being staged through Melton’s Christ Anglican Church and Combined Churches Caring.
