Early-morning collision on freeway

AN elderly Ballan driver was taken to hospital after his car collided with a truck on the Western Freeway about 1.40am last Friday.

Bacchus Marsh senior constable Luke Wraight said the 79-year-old was driving east in a slow-moving car when he veered into the other lane near Ballan.

“A truck’s collected it from behind and pushed it into the grass shoulder,” he said.

“Fatigue could have been a causing factor. He didn’t receive any injuries but was taken to hospital for observation.”
