POLICE have laid charges over the murder of Gold Coast man Wayne Boyd.
Mr Boyd’s body was found on Beattys Road, Rockbank, on November 9, 2001.
Police last week charged a man, 39, who is in a Victorian corrections centre for other matters, with one count of murder.
He was scheduled to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court yesterday.
Thieves target trailers
Residents and service station operators are being urged to secure trailers following recent thefts.
A trailer valued at $1500 was stolen from a front yard in Adams Drive, Plumpton, between 8pm on October 7 and 2am the next day.
A trailer was also taken from a service station in High Street, Melton, about 9.45pm on October 6.
Police are seeking the driver of Mitsubishi Pajero parked near the trailer shortly before the theft.
Car stolen and torched
Police are seeking information from the public after a car was stolen and set alight on October 6.
The car, which had broken down, was taken from Cootamundra Circuit, Melton, about 3.30pm. It was found in a nearby ditch shortly afterwards.
Knife wielded as trio rob woman
Three men are being sought by police after a 39-year-old woman was robbed after getting off a bus in Melton South.
Police said the woman was approached by three men, one armed with a knife, in Hume Avenue about 9.15pm on October 5.
The men demanded her purse and left without causing physical harm.
Zonta aids Third World ‘birthing’
Professional women in Melton and Bacchus Marsh have gathered to make 600 birth kits for women in Third World countries.
It’s hoped the Zonta kits can prevent tetanus and other diseases due to the conditions where women give birth, including dirt floors.
The kits include a sheet of plastic, soap and gloves. Service organisation Zonta was founded in 1919 and has been in Melton since 1997.
Club members support local and international projects.
