Ample room to stretch out

In Botanica Springs estate, a walk away from a park and Melton weir, this house has a layout designed to give adults some space away from the pell-mell of kids — or, indeed, vice versa.

Inside, tiles are used extensively, another child-friendly element, and outdoor areas are also easy upkeep, so “family time” is stamped all over this place.

Agave and yuccas planted amid pebbles and a facade combo of brick veneer and stacked stone put on a welcoming face in a street of homes with similar modern character.

A tiled entry hall, with bulkhead ceiling and walk-in storage closet, has a bedroom with wardrobes to the left (also suitable as a study); the main bedroom opposite has a large walk-in wardrobe and an en suite with a big shower and twin recessed vanity basins.

The family-meals zone has in-wall sliding doors to a good-sized rumpus room, both areas with access to separate covered decks (there’s one of the aforementioned children-adult separation points).

The kitchen, with soft grey colour palette, has a stone-topped island bench, a big walk-in pantry, underbench oven, gas cook-top and Venini dishwasher. A hallway heads from the family room to two bedrooms with wardrobes, a laundry with storage, the main bathroom with mosaic feature tiles, and a separate toilet.

The two decks connect with a pitched-roof pergola above coloured concrete paving so there’s plenty of space for family gatherings.

The compact backyard is covered in gravel and has a large shed as its sole feature — green thumbs can get down and dirty here if they so choose. A nearby shopping centre is on the drawing board and when this goes ahead Botanica Springs will look even better.
