Police turn to public for help in search for missing  Korweinguboora man

The Moorabool Criminal Investigation Unit is appealing for public assistance to help locate a missing 45-year-old Korweinguboora man.

Andrew Caulfield was last seen at work on 9 November last year and failed to meet his son at Ballarat Railway Station later that day.

Police believe there is a possibility Caulfield has self-harmed. He was known to frequent the Blackwood area and the Wombat State Forest.

Moorabool CIU Detective Senior Constable Leigh Discher said his disappearance was not being treated as suspicious, however police had exhausted all avenues in their search for the married man of three children, aged between 15 and 19.

Police believe that Caulfield may have travelled to the Mt Blackwood area, near Ballan, on or around this date. He is not believed to be in possession of a vehicle or any money.

‘‘We’ve made a number of enquiries and done searches of the area but with no success,’’ Det Snr Const Discher said.

‘‘There were indications Andrew might self harm but there were no indications that he would just take off.’’

Police believe he left the area of his own accord and concerns developed over time when he failed to contact anyone he knew.

Andrew is described as being Caucasian in appearance, approximately 178cm tall, with a medium build, green eyes, short brown hair and a brown goatie.

He also has a piercing above his left eye and in his left ear, as well as tattoos of dragons, samurai, skulls a grime reaper and the name ‘Judy’ on his upper arms.

Andrew was last seen wearing a fluro collared t-shirt with his name printed on it, jeans and work boots.

Investigators are keen to hear from anyone who regularly visits those areas who might recognise Andrew or has seen anything unusual such as discarded clothing or other items.

Previous searches of the area by police and SES failed to recover Andrew or any items, however there is a number of old abandoned mine shafts within the area.

He has also been known to hitch-hike and may have been given a lift by a passing motorist.

At this stage investigators do not believe the disappearance to be suspicious.

Police have released a photo of Andrew and ask that if anyone knows his where abouts to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or to visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
