Campers warned on fire-lighting
Visitors to Moorabool’s national parks and state forests are being urged to take care when lighting campfires. Department of Sustainability and Environment duty officer Kendra Dean said spring was notorious for unpredictable weather. “About 10 per cent of fires in Victoria’s parks and forests are started by campfire escapes so it’s important that people keep informed of the current weather and fire conditions and also the forecast conditions in the days following their visit.” For details on burns and fires in Victoria and general fire safety advice, phone 1800 240 667.
Leadership from disadvantage
Moorabool residents with a disability can develop their skills and confidence and become leaders in the community through a ‘Leaders for Tomorrow’ program. Applications for the next intake close on Friday. Details: leadersfortomorrow.com.au
