Men who robbed child court-bound
Four men will face court after a group, one of them armed with a baseball bat, robbed three boys on Coburns Road, Melton, on September 24. The theft of the boys’ phones and wallets occurred about 2.30am. The men have been charged with armed robbery and bailed to appear at a later date.
Where the dogs run free
Parks at Boronia Reserve in Hillside and Navan Park in Melton West will retain their off-lead status for dogs after a Melton Council decision based on the success of a trial period. The parks will be provided with additional shade and seating. Chief executive Kel Tori said that given the success of the trials, more ‘dog parks’ may be considered in future.
Drama group seeks youth
Melton Council wants young people to get involved in a new drama group. The North by Northwest group is for people aged 12-25 who live, study or work in the city. The group offers workshops in performance skills including voice, movement, script work and storytelling. Free workshops will be held on Thursdays from 4.30-6.30pm (during school terms) at Taylors Hill Youth and Community Centre, corner of Calder Park Drive and Omarama Way. The program begins October 18.
