DIGGERS Rest halted Riddell Bombers’ momentum as the Riddell District Football League’s form team with an 18-point win at the weekend.
The Burras held top spot by a game from Romsey with the win and put a dent in Riddell’s double chance hopes by leading at every change in the 12.13 (85) to 10.7 (67) result.

Diggers Rest coach Jamie Elliott said his team was well aware of Riddell’s good form heading into the match.
“It was always going to be a one-on-one game and the contested side was pretty important,” Elliott said.
“They [Riddell] controlled stages of quarters where they were good through the middle, but we came back and did the same.
“We’re top of the ladder because we’ve played some really good footy.
“We’re looking to get some continuity into our side and game time into our so-called better players who haven’t played much in the past month.”
Cole Laurie booted five goals to lead the Burras’ scoring while Haydn Ross kicked three for Riddell.
Elliott praised Tom Gleeson for his defensive role playing on Riddell tall Jarrod Sylvester, while Nathan Holloway was named Diggers Rest’s best.
Ross, Nathan Allen and Brayden Allen were better players for Riddell.
