A decade is a long time, especially when it comes to tree planting.
More than 200 volunteers including David Buntine and Helena Lindorff (pictured) gathered on a hilly patch near Bacchus Marsh on July 15 to watch Grow West’s millionth tree be planted.
The event coincided with the organisation’s seventh annual community planting day. Grow West is an alliance of landholders, Landcare groups, government agencies and Moorabool Council.
Over the past decade, close to 1000 hectares at 175 sites, including the Brisbane Ranges National Park, Lerderderg State Park and Werribee Gorge State Park, have been restored through revegetation and farm forestry projects.
