Pilots of prostate care

NEW specialist prostate cancer nurses will provide valuable guidance, according to the chairman of a local support group.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia says the pilot program will be rolled out by a team of 13 expert prostate cancer nurses across Australia.

Victoria has been allocated three nurses – at Bendigo Health, Austin Health and Latrobe Hospital. Melmarsh Prostate Cancer Support Group’s Henry Franklin (pictured with Grenville Kerton) says while members will have to travel to see the specialist nurse, the nurse would be a great point of contact for patients.

The Melmarsh group meets at Melton library at 7pm on the first Thursday and 10am on the third Wednesday of each month. Details: 0432531861
