EIGHT years of dedication has helped a pair of Bacchus Marsh hi-fi wizards beat off an international field to win a major industry prize.
In an audio version of the David and Goliath story, Leon Suter and Lee Gray of local audio business Kyron feature in the latest edition of Australian Hi-Fi magazine after taking out the ‘best in show’ award at the 2011 Audio AV Show.
The duo’s award was for their Gaia speaker system, their first commercial offering.
“The loudspeaker system is our own design,” Mr Suter said.
“The parts are mostly made by a computer-controlled machine to our specifications and we do all the assembly ourselves.
“There’s a lot of time and a lot of love that goes into every system we make.
“It’s taken over eight years and many prototypes to arrive at the final product. I think our care and attention to room set-up, including the room acoustics and a whole-of-system design approach, was the key to the great sound.”
Kyron’s display had many industry experts singing its praises, describing the speaker as stylish in appearance and superlative in performance.
