MORE than 30 cars had their windscreens smashed and panels damaged in a spate of vandalism in the north west on Sunday night.
Police said the separate attacks happened in the early hours of this morning in the streets of Hillside, Caroline Springs, Taylors Hill and Sydenham.
Caroline Springs police Sergeant Paul Allen said police were in the process of investigating each individual case.
‘‘None of the attacks were in the same street which lead us to believe there may have been more than one offender,’’ he said.
Sergeant Allen said windscreens had been shattered in more than 30 cars and in some cases metal panels had been dented or scratched.
Brimbank resident Emily, who wished not to have her last name printed, said she woke this morning to find the windscreen of her car which was parked in Holland Way in Caroline Springs, had been completely smashed.
‘‘I’ve been staying at my boyfriend’s house in Caroline Springs for three years and nothing like this has ever happened before,’’ she said. ‘‘We have spoken to neighbours and it seems that cars that were parked closer to homes weren’t touched while the ones parked on the street were targeted.’’
Emily’s boyfriend’s car which was parked metres away in the driveway of his home remained unscathed.
Sergeant Allen said police are conducting an investigation into the incidents and appealed for anyone with any information to contact the Caroline Springs Police on 93614700 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
