Melton Council has placed a heritage overlay on a historic home at 161 Bulmans Road (pictured).
The late-Victorian home is considered to be architecturally significant.
A report to the council stated most of the original features, like horizontal timber weatherboards and narrow eaves, remained intact.
The house, built in the 1890s, was on land owned by George Bulman.
Charges laid after high-speed chase
A Melton man has been charged after being involved in a high-speed chase on the Hume Freeway.
Police ordered drivers to form a roadblock with their cars to end the pursuit near Epping on May 12.
Ashley Steel was charged with 17 offences including car theft, reckless conduct endangering life and traffic offences.
He will face court on August 7.
Libraries more than reading hub
Melton Council is encouraging residents to join in this week’s National Library and Information Week celebrations.
The annual event celebrates the role and value of libraries in the community.
Mayor Justin Mammarella says it’s an opportunity to discover what local libraries have to offer.
“This year’s theme highlights that libraries are far more than just the books they contain.
”This is a chance to discover the myriad other things they offer, including language kits, DVDs and sports equipment, as well as genealogy, research, education and training services.
