THE future of Mowbray College’s Patterson campus remains uncertain following the submission of a detailed strategic plan.
As reported by the Weekly, principal Tony Keirsten-Wakefield could neither confirm nor deny rumours the Melton campus was about to be closed.
Last week he admitted that Mowbray was in financial difficulty, but he remained positive about the future of the school, which also has junior and senior campuses in Caroline Springs.
Mr Keirsten-Wakefield said he expected more information on the future of the campus to be released next week.
“The plan I submitted is now being reviewed by a project consultant, who will test the numbers and data in the report so that any decision made is based on accurate data,” he said.
Mowbray Parent Action Group member Deborah Brown said the closure of the Melton site would be a great loss.
“There is nothing quite like the community at Mowbray,” she said.
“A great culture exists between parents, teachers and students at our school. Each morning when you walk through the gates of Mowbray, everyone says hello and teachers will stop and have a chat.”
Ms Brown, whose daughter is a grade 1 student, has her son enrolled to start kindergarten at Mowbray in 2014. She said “everything” came back to the quality of the education at the school.
