Melton man sought over abductions

POLICE are appealing for help to find a Melton man allegedly involved in a string of kidnappings and assaults.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 26-year-old James Daniel Simpson over breach of his parole conditions and his involvement in two separate kidnappings in Melton South.

The first incident took place between February 1 and 15 and the second on February 25.

Police believe Simpson is armed and they have warned people not to approach him.

Melton’s Detective Sergeant Rob Henley urged Simpson to turn himself into police.

Detective Senior Constable Michael Saliba, of Melton’s crime investigation unit, said Simpson had been sighted several times in the Melton area last week, including over the weekend.

Police also allege Simpson and four other men were involved in a serious assault outside a Melton South house on March 8 in which a 48-year-old man suffered a broken ankle, a fractured cheek and a broken nose. Police believe that about 2.30pm on April 11, Simpson also fired a shot in Evelyn Court, Melton West.

They urged anyone who sees Simpson to phone triple-0.
