TEENAGE swimmer Emily O’Rourke has the Olympics in her sights.
The gruelling early morning training sessions paid off for the 13-year-old at this month’s Australian age swimming championships in Brisbane, where she won the final of the 200-metre butterfly.
The year 9 Melton Catholic Regional College student said the supportive environment at the Melton Swimming Club had paid dividends.
“It was pretty nerve-racking at the start [of the final], but then it felt good to win,” she said.
A swimmer since the age of four, Emily says she hopes one day to represent Australia in the pool.
But, for the time being, She’s happy combining sport with schoolwork.
