BACCHUS Marsh talkback presenter and volunteer 98.5 Apple FM radio host Kathy Hughes joined 25 community groups at the shire’s annual volunteer expo last Thursday to promote the benefits and rewards of philanthropic work.

Ms Hughes roamed Bacchus Marsh Town Hall with a microphone, interviewing volunteers like Emma Muir, of Pentland Hills Landcare, and Helena Lindorff, of Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority (pictured), live to air.

These groups need volunteers for a community-planting day on Muirs Lane, Myrniong, on July 15.

The Apple FM crew is also looking for volunteer presenters.

National Volunteer Week, May 14-29, highlights the role of volunteers in the community and thanks some six-million Australians, including about 40 per cent of Moorabool’s residents.
