Melton-based foundation extends wishes to ill adults

AS cancer tore apart her friend’s family, Jenny Howell-Clark was desperate to do something to ease the pain.

Last July, her friend Nadine Webber was diagnosed with three forms of the disease.

“It was heartbreaking,” Ms Howell-Clark said. “Nadine had just given birth to her third daughter and watching her life and health fade brought me so much sadness.”

So the Melton resident founded an organisation – called The Orange Pigeon – devoted to granting the wishes of seriously ill adults.

After pleading with companies for tickets to last year’s AFL grand final, Ms Howell-Clark was able to send Nadine to the game. “When I saw Nadine [the day after], the happiness in her eyes was clear.

All I wanted was for her to forget things for a day – a day without pain or worry.”

Ms Howell-Clark is looking for more nominations for The Orange Pigeon’s initiatives. A trivia night fund-raiser for the organisation is slated for 6.30pm April 27 at Arnolds Creek Community Hall in Claret Ash Boulevard, Melton West.
