RDNL: Rockbank off to slying start

ROCKBANK is flying high in the Riddell District Netball League after stunning Woodend Hesket by three goals in the season’s opening round.

The Rams’ 37-34 win was a perfect start to the season for a team that has spent recent seasons at, or near, the bottom of the ladder.

Diggers Rest found the going tough in its opening game against Macedon, losing 23-55 to last season’s runners-up.

Melton Central played no game at the weekend as Lancefield did not enter an Agrade team.

Eliminated in the preliminary final last season, the Blues will look to launch their premiership challenge against Kilmore this weekend.

In other results, Riddell 42 defeated Romsey 37, Broadford 53 beat Sunbury Kangaroos 10, and Wallan 65 defeated Kilmore 15.
