A Caroline Springs girls’ basketball team has a greater appreciation for the sport after taking part in a clinic with some Melbourne Tigers stars.
Players Ron Dorsey and Liam Rush (pictured) ran a clinic for The Mixtures under-11 team at Caroline Springs College’s Lakeview campus on March 21.
Rush, Dorsey and Tigers coaches taught the girls tricks, including how to bounce the ball through their legs.
The girls also got to watch the Tigers in action in a one-point loss to Perth Wildcats on March 23.
They even played an exhibition game as part of the night’s half-time entertainment.
Gabrielle Hammond says she loved seeing a slam dunk for the first time.
“The slam dunks were amazing,” she says. “Even though some of the activities were really hard, I managed them. I was excited to meet the players because they are famous and so tall.”
Aleshia Copplman says the visit inspired the team and she’s enjoying the sport more each week.
