Olly Powell named first Nathan Prince cricket award winner

JUNIOR cricketer Olly Powell (pictured) feels especially honoured this week.

The 15-year-old has won the Bacchus Marsh Junior Cricket Club’s first Nathan Prince Memorial Award as the outstanding clubman for under-16s.

Prince, a Western Jets footballer, died last year after he went into cardiac arrest while playing for Bacchus Marsh. He was also a keen cricketer.

Coach Damien Strangio says Olly is part of the team’s leadership group and has made great improvements as a player.

“He provides an excellent example with his skills as a co-captain, his enthusiasm, encouragement and cheerfulness.”

Olly’s older brother Jack won the Nathan Prince football award last season.
