LARGE crowds descended on Ballan for the town’s annual autumn festival on Sunday.
Visitors were greeted at Ballan railway station by giant ‘hale bale’ people, with costumes made by the Wombat Regional Arts Network.
A grand parade entertained hordes of people with kindergarten and school floats (pictured), young soccer stars, dancers in vibrant costumes and brass horn musicians from the Ballan Municipal Band.
Elsewhere art, craft, food and fashion stalls kept shoppers busy.
Shiny vintage cars and motorcycles peppered the streets, while a life-drawing class was on offer for those not too shy.
Ballan Primary School pupils presented Transitions, an art exhibition paying homage to six famous Ballan characters.
Many quilters, other crafty types, artists and photographers entered their finest pieces in the Ballan Quilt and Craft Show.
