MELTON Vietnam Veterans Association member John Williams (pictured) has been clocking up the hours on his bike in preparation for a 400-kilometre charity ride.
The Veterans Welfare Centre’s ‘VetRide Tour of Duty’ starts in Bendigo on Sunday, with cyclists riding to Maryborough, Ballarat and finishing in Melton next Wednesday.
Mr Williams, 63, of Caroline Springs, says he feels mentally prepared but has a degree of trepidation.
“I’ll be glad when it starts … most of the anticipation comes from wondering whether you’re going to be able to do it.”
To date, he’s raised more than $300 for the National Vietnam Veterans Museum.
