INVESTIGATIONS continue into the death of a Melton South teenager in a house fire last week.
Daniel Sheehy died after a blaze ripped through the Hume Avenue home shortly before 2am on Wednesday.
On Monday, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said the arson and explosives squad had taken over the investigation, with homicide detectives no longer involved.
Detectives were at the scene after the discovery of the teenager’s body.
His 13-year-old brother and 58-year-old father were inside the house but managed to escape unharmed.
Detective Shane O’Connell said it appeared the blaze had started in a bedroom of the red-brick house, which suffered extensive damage. CFA station officer Michael Masters said the fire was contained within 10 minutes.
“We’re saddened by the loss of any member of the community and we feel for his family and friends.”
