Bowls Victoria: Melton goes one up

MELTON will send one team to the divisional finals of Bowls Victoria Tuesday pennant after its division 2 section 1 outfit prevailed in the sectional finals on Thursday.

Three Melton teams went to the midweek finals with one eliminated on Tuesday and another on Thursday to leave one survivor to head into the next round of playoffs.

The div 2 sec 1 team, Melton’s seconds, thrashed Werribee RSL 3 on Tuesday 98-45 before winning 78-55 against Sunshine VRI on Thursday.

Melton’s midweek firsts, playing in open division 1 section 1, comfortably beat Sunshine RSL 80-44 on Tuesday but met its match on Thursday.

Laverton prevailed 80-52 in the sectional final.

Melton’s other finalist, in div 4 sec 1, lost 45-64 to Glenroy 4 on Tuesday in the sectional semi-final.
