NURSES have called off industrial action ahead of a fresh round of talks with the state government.
The Australian Nursing Federation and hospital employers announced this morning they will enter a new round of talks with Fair Work Australia.
Health Minister David Davis welcomed the “significant development in negotiations” with the ANF for a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.
He said the immediate end to industrial activity has paved the way for both parties to resume conciliation.
Nurses and midwives began their rolling walk-out campaign on February 24 in the fight to retain nurse to patient ratios.
They continued the action in defiance of a Federal Court order to return to work, risking hefty fines.
The employers and ANF have committed to resolve all outstanding issues by March 16.
