Funding for fire sirens

MOORABOOL Council has won a grant to build community warning sirens in two high-fire-risk areas.

It said $30,000 would be allocated to sirens at Blackwood and Greendale/Dales Creek.

CFA members will be involved in the project, with the sirens to be aligned with the authority’s towers and infrastructure.

CFA Grampians region manager Don Kelly said additional funding had been received for community engagement and testing of the sirens.

Mayor Pat Griffin said residents could help by contacting the council when hearing the siren.

“This project will be a partnership approach with the CFA, local residents and council all involved.”
