A Bacchus Marsh aged-care centre is putting out the welcome mat as part of this year’s International Open Day.
Grant Lodge, run by Djerriwarrh Health Services (DJHS), will be among thousands of aged-care centres around the globe opening their doors to the public on Friday, June 19.
Aged and Community Services Australia chief executive John Kelly said International Open Day was a chance for aged-care providers to showcase their work to the wider world.
“Aged-care services are at the heart of many smaller communities and it’s their presence that allows many older Australians to live longer in their own homes,” Professor Kelly said.
“All families should have a conversation about ageing and your local aged-care provider’s open day is a great place for this to begin.”
Tours of the Grant Lodge homes in Clarinda Street will run at 2pm and 3pm, while musical performances and family activities will keep everyone entertained from 1.30-4pm.
DJHS chief executive David Grace urged people to celebrate International Open Day with their senior citizens.
“The day is intended as a celebration of aged-care services and will promote the positive experiences of older Australians,” Mr Grace said
