Family, friends and pets matter most to Moorabool kids who have helped illustrate a new guide to assist parents raising young children.
In the Land of Moorabool is a booklet containing information and details about services designed to assist in caring for families.
The project began with artists up to the age of eight being invited to illustrate the ways that they “belong” in the land of Moorabool.
Parents, grandparents and carers accompanied the young artists to the launch at Lerderderg library last week, held in conjunction with National Families Week.
Moorabool mayor Paul Tatchell said the booklet was aimed at making access to services, especially local services, easier for families.
“The resource booklet, beautifully illustrated by local school children, contains up-to-date information about local services, including education, health and welfare services,” he said.
“Their work also helps to remind us, as parents, of the importance of simple things to our children – like family, friends and pets.”
In the Land of Moorabool was published by the state government-funded Best Start Program.
It is available through schools, kindergartens, maternal child health centres, community houses, hospitals, shopping centres, libraries and Moorabool council.
It will also be available online, via the Moorabool council website.
